Mirror Sunset First Draft

Mirror Sunset (March 15, 2009)

Seven forty-eight
and the waitstaff steps out
onto the porch and patrons
cram up against the eastside windows
to watch the bright contrail
against the dark eastern sky.

Exhaled hush of a cool evening
and everyone returns to work
for a short time soaring.

Certainly reminiscent of and perhaps even unconsciously modeled and derived from the "Rocket Summer" portion of Ray Bradbury''s The Martian Chronicles
