From Summa Minutiae--My Style of Catholicism
QuizFarm.com :: What is your style of American Catholicism?
You scored as New Catholic. The years following the Second Vatican Council was a time of collapse of the Catholic faith and its traditions. But you are a young person who has rediscovered this lost faith, probably due to the evangelization of Pope John Paul II. You are enthusiastic, refreshing, and somewhat traditional, and you may be considering a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. You reject relativism and the decline in society that you see among your peers. You are seen as being good for the Church.
A possible problem is that you may have a too narrow a view of orthodoxy, and anyway, you are still a youth and not yet mature in your faith.

And how the heck does how I view capitalism dictate what kind of Catholic I am? I don't know what a "new Catholic" is, and frankly I don't care because I love the church--her traditions, her innovations, her many forms of Mass, her holiness, her guidance, her Joyous proclamation of the truth, her Saints, her leaders, and all of her people, New, Traditional, Radical, Evangelical, Neo-Conservtive, Liberal, and Lukewarm. I love the Church and thank God daily that I am now a Catholic!

I scored as a Traditional Catholic, which made me laugh. It's not a very good quiz.
The bit about capitalism is, there's a wide, vocal group of Catholics who view capitalism as the Beast. If they actually read and/or believed the Bible, they would doubtless be trying to prove that the letters in the Greek/Aramaic/something translation of "Capitalism" adds up to 666.

Heh, you're a Neocath. :)
For more information see: http://www.catholicpillowfight.com/neocath.php for more info. The term was used (not coined) by dissident priest Father Joe O'Leary who was fisked from one end of the blogosphere to the other. He took the original down, but his missive was quoted and responded to in toto on my site. A link is available from the page referenced above.
Enjoy :)

When I took this I was sad to see that the 2% lukewarm Catholic was there for me, too. I have work to do!

Dear Tony,
Odd, I read the discription and it doesn't sound a lot like me (in some ways--combative apologetics is a real turn-off for me--but then so is "the spirit of Vatican II" excuse for any piece of lunacy we want to trot out and foist off on the unsuspecting [pardon the pun] masses.)
I'll need to find out more. It's just another reason why I find labels so unsatisfying. They fail to include a continuum from just barely to extreme. If I qualify for neoCatholic, then it may be on a just barely scale. Although the curuiously high value on traditional Catholic (which I'm sure you'd find Mr. Culbreath ready to debate) kind of reinforces the overall scenario, doesn't it.
Thanks for your note and the link to your post.
shalom,
Steven

the big problem that I saw with the quiz is that the answers are too much eithor/or, not both/and. I tied at traditional vs new catholic, and the tie breaking question I got was to choose between JP2 saint now and I prefer Latin Mass.
bad quiz, but good starting point for conversation!
