Another Poem [Cayo Hueso]

Fort Jefferson

The world changed that day when the white rock shifted
and became the small shell of a turbaned
snail, harsh in sunlight against the red brick.

Dear Dylan,

Thank you. Coming from you that is enormously gratifying. I hesitate to point out the obvious which bothers me somewhat--but it is very structurally and rhythmically reminiscent of William Carlos Williams. But your reading helps me to think that I managed to avoid overfamiliarity.
