Unlikely Etymologies

Have you ever noticed the affinity of très chère and treasure. The few things in my life that I would refer to as one are indeed the only things that are the other.

In a comparable vain: I very much liked somebody using "A Dieu" (explicitly in two words) for a friend who had passed away - I hadn't realised the particular meaning of the original word "adieu"...
