The Pevear/Volokhnsky translation is lovely, isn't it? Reading it was the first time I made it through to the end, myself. I feel such dread and frustration reading the story, knowing what will come. But it is brilliantly written, and I'm glad to get a fresher taste of Tolstoy's prose. I've been trying to shepherd myself to better books, as well, from much the same motivation. I wish you well with it.
